Frequently asked questions

Ordering

How can I order 1/2 yard increments?

Our website doesn't support fractional quantities, but we do sell in ¼-yard increments after our 1-yard minimum. If you’d like to place an order with fractional yardage, just email us at info@primefabrics.com with the SKUs and exact amounts you need — we’ll get back to you with a custom order link as soon as possible.

Will my fabric arrive in one continuous piece?

We always aim to ship your fabric in one continuous cut. However, in some cases, our inventory may consist of multiple smaller cuts. If we're unable to fulfill your order in one piece, we'll contact you before shipping to confirm that the available cuts work for your project.

How can I be sure of the fabric color before ordering?

We photograph all fabrics carefully, but colors can look different depending on your screen settings. Because of this, we highly recommend ordering a swatch before purchasing. Swatches are available for most fabrics directly on the product page. If a swatch isn't available for a specific fabric, please reach out to info@primefabrics.com — we may be able to send a sample of another fabric in the same color to help you decide.

What can I expect from a swatch?

Swatches are meant to give you a sense of the color, texture, and weight of the fabric. They typically do not show the full pattern or motif, especially for large-scale prints. Swatch sizes vary depending on the fabric, but are generally between 3"×5" and 5"×7". We do our best to include all colors present in the fabric, however, this is not always possible. Swatch prices vary based on the price of the fabric itself.

Fabric

Where are your fabrics sourced from?

We source fabric from all over the world with a heavy focus on Italian fabrics. Most of our fabrics are deadstock from top designers and mills, however, we also have fabrics produced exclusively for us.

Most of our fabrics are dead stock from top designers and luxury fashion houses. However, we don’t always list a designer name for a few reasons:

  1. Many fabrics come through trusted suppliers without a brand label attached. Even though the quality and design are at a luxury level, the exact origin may not be confirmed.
  2. In some cases, we know the designer but are contractually restricted from naming them.
Will you restock a fabric once it’s sold out?

Most of our fabrics are deadstock or limited production, which means once they’re gone, they’re likely gone for good. If you’re hoping for a restock, feel free to contact us — occasionally we can source more or suggest something similar.

Why don’t you always list full fabric specs like fiber content, GSM, or abrasion ratings?

Many of our fabrics are deadstock, meaning they come from leftover rolls originally produced for designers or mills — often without any documentation. Because of that, technical details like GSM (weight), abrasion resistance, or exact fiber contents aren’t always available.

When we don’t have verified content, we do a burn test in-house to identify the general fibers (like wool, silk, polyester, etc.), but we never guess percentages. We’d rather give you less information than wrong information.

We’re committed to providing as much detail as we can — and if you're ever unsure about a fabric, we always recommend ordering a swatch or reaching out for guidance.

Do you list the designer or brand for each fabric?

Most of our fabrics are deadstock from designers and luxury fashion houses, but we don’t always list a name. Here’s why:

  • Fabrics often move through suppliers without a label, so even though the quality is unmistakable, the exact designer isn’t always confirmed.
  • Certain designers don’t allow their names to be used once their leftover fabric is sold.

The true beauty of deadstock is in the fabric itself—unique designs, luxury quality, and the fact that once it’s gone, it’s gone.

Shipping & Returns

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, we ship worldwide. International shipping rates are calculated at checkout and include all duties and taxes upfront, so there are no surprises upon delivery. If we’re unable to ship to your address, you will be notified once you enter you address and won't able to complete checkout — feel free to contact us if you need help.

How long does shipping take?

Orders typically ship within 1-2 business days. Delivery times vary depending on location. Estimates can be seen when selecting a shipping service at checkout. Expedited orders will ship the following business day if placed after 2:00 PM EST.

Can I pick up my order in-store?

Absolutely. Choose "Pickup In-Store" at checkout and we’ll email you when it's ready.

How do I track my order?

You’ll receive a tracking link via email as soon as your order ships. Please note, domestic swatch orders typically ship in the mail and cannot be tracked.

What do I do if my package was lost or damaged in transit?

Most of our orders are automatically insured for up to $200 USD. If you have a loss or damage claim, please reach out to us as soon as possible and provide any supporting evidence you may have. We will initiate the claim with our insurance provider and help you resolve the issue. Please note, it is not a guarantee that the claim will be paid out.

What’s your return policy?

Due to the nature of fabric, all cut yardage is final sale. Swatches are also non-refundable. However, if there’s an issue with your order, let us know and we’ll do our best to make it right. Please note, we will not accept returns due to color, texture, or weight not being as expected. It is highly recommended to order a swatch before purchasing yardage.
